The US will allocate $6 billion to order weapons for Ukraine, - Lloyd Austin

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin reported that the United States is allocating $6 billion for military aid to Ukraine through the mechanism of ordering weapons from American manufacturers.

He stated this during a press conference after the 21st meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine on April 26.

Austin mentioned the recently provided military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion dollars, the weapons of which are supplied from the US Army. In addition, within the framework of the Ukrainian Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), another 6 billion dollars will be allocated to purchase assistance for Ukraine from the American defense industry.

According to Austin, this is the largest military aid package announced today. It will include interceptors for the Patriot and NASAMS systems, anti-drone systems, a significant amount of artillery ammunition and anti-aircraft missiles.

Previously, Politico reported that the US plans to announce a $6 billion package. On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed a package of legislation adopted by Congress, providing for the allocation of almost 61 billion dollars in additional military and economic aid to Ukraine and other US allies.
