Macron believes that Russia has already "geopolitically lost" the war

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that Russia has already "geopolitically lost" the war in Ukraine and is turning into a vassal state of China. This is reported by The Guardian

"De facto, it has become subordinate to China and has lost access to the Baltic States, which was critical because it prompted Sweden and Finland to decide to join NATO... This was unimaginable two years ago. Therefore, this is already a geopolitical defeat," Macron said in an interview with Opinion.

He emphasized that in order for Russia to lose the war, Ukraine needs to be helped in the upcoming counteroffensive.

"Let's be clear, Russia should not win this war militarily. Therefore, it is up to us to help the Ukrainians in their counteroffensive, to prepare the issue of security guarantees in the negotiations that will inevitably take place," he said.

Macron also noted that the European security architecture will have to fully protect Ukraine.

"I have always said that in the end, the European security architecture will have to fully protect Ukraine. But it must also provide for non-confrontation with Russia and the restoration of a sustainable balance of power," he added, saying, "But there are still many steps to be taken before we get there."

Earlier, French media reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might arrive in Paris on Sunday after his visit to Germany.
