Sullivan on the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: strategic territories will be returned
The United States believes that the long-awaited counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will lead to the return of strategically important territory to Kyiv.
This position was expressed by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, CNN reports.
"How exactly this will happen, in what locations, will depend on the course of events on the ground, when the Ukrainians launch a counteroffensive. We are, however, confident that the Ukrainians will succeed in this counteroffensive," Sullivan said.
At the same time, Sullivan noted that the course of the fighting will have a significant impact on all subsequent negotiations.
"But I want to say the following: President Zelensky himself said that this conflict will eventually be resolved through diplomatic means, ", he said.
Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive
The Ukrainian political and military leadership has repeatedly announced that the military is preparing for a counteroffensive to continue the liberation of territories from Russian occupiers. Initially, it was planned that the counteroffensive would begin in the spring, while it was expected that the activity of hostilities would increase in the summer.
Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian military was ready for counteroffensive actions, although the exact date of the start of such actions is still unknown.
