US has evidence of RT's involvement in Russian intelligence operations – CNN
In the near future, US President Joe Biden's administration is likely to launch a large-scale initiative aimed at reducing the worldwide power of Russian propaganda media RT, revealing its major role in the Kremlin's intelligence operations and global influence.

Details: One of the journalists' sources stated that the US State Department will release declassified US intelligence data indicating that RT is fully integrated into Russia's global intelligence operations, as well as launch a diplomatic campaign to inform countries about the risks associated with this media's activities.
Another insider source revealed that for more than a year, the Russian government has been secretly implementing an RT intelligence-gathering unit that focuses on global influence operations.
According to the source, this extends beyond propaganda and covert influence activities to encompass military purchases.
The US intends to inform other governments that RT and Russian intelligence agencies are collaborating to create dissension and disrupt democratic processes, and to make it far more difficult for RT to operate globally, the source said.
Allegedly, American diplomats anticipate that in the following days and weeks, including at the UN General Assembly session, they will attempt to form a coalition of countries to address this issue.
Background:
- The US Treasury Department placed sanctions on RT management and linked organisations for attempting to interfere in the US presidential election.
- The US Justice Department recently announced charges against two RT employees for breaching foreign agent regulations and money laundering.
- On 4 September, the US Department of Treasury announced sanctions against the management of Russian propagandistic channel RT and the RaHDit hacker group for interfering with the 2024 US presidential elections.
