Rubble clearance completed in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast: 14 civilians killed, 44 injured

The removal of rubble from the 9 August Russian strike on the town of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast has been completed. Final figures indicate that 14 people have been killed and 44 injured in the attack.

Quote: "Kostiantynivka: the rubble of the shopping centre has been cleared. Emergency workers have dismantled 76 tonnes of building debris at the site.

The yesterday's Russian attack claimed the lives of 14 people and left 44 more injured.

Police forensic experts identified 5 of the 8 unidentified bodies: three women and two children – girls aged 12 and 10. Three more bodies remain to be identified."

Details: Klymenko noted that an interagency investigation team, comprising officers from the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine, has been established to thoroughly document the Russian war crime.

Background:

  • On the afternoon of 9 August, Russia launched a missile strike on a shopping centre in central Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast. The attack specifically impacted the Eko-Market supermarket and a post office branch.  
  • Earlier reports indicated that at least 14 people had been killed and 43 others injured as a result of the Russian missile strike on Kostiantynivka.
  • As of the morning of 10 August, the bodies of 2 dead children were identified in Kostiantynivka.
