Ukraine's defence forces halt Russian counterattack in Kursk Oblast
Russia's counteroffensive to reclaim territory controlled by Ukrainian troops in Kursk Oblast has been "stopped."
Source: Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi, representative of the Ukrainian military commandant’s office in Kursk Oblast, in a comment to AFP on 18 September
Quote: "They tried to attack from the flanks, but they were stopped there. The situation was stabilised and today everything is under control, they are not successful."
Details: It is noted that the Ukrainian military recognised the "small success" of the Russian troops.
"The Russians entered one of the settlements. They started fighting for another settlement, but that was it," he said.
Dmytrashkivskyi further stated that Russian strikes on the area, as Russia attempts to retake its territory, had killed 23 civilians since late August, emphasising that these civilians are dying alongside Ukrainian soldiers.
