Details: Sybiha noted that they discussed energy sustainability, Black Sea security, and military assistance.
"We’re very grateful for Romania’s Patriot system. We continue to advance the Peace Formula together. Agreed on mutual respect, best European standards in protecting the rights of national minorities in both countries," he stressed.
"Honoured to welcome Andrii Sybiha to Bucharest, in his first official visit abroad since appointment as MFA [Minister of Foreign Affairs]," the Romanian foreign minister tweeted.
Odobescu noted that she reaffirmed Romania's support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and Romania's readiness to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership.
"Reconfirmed Romania's strong support for Ukraine and its legitimate defence against Russian war of aggression. Reaffirmed Romania's readiness to assist Ukraine in its EU accession," she added.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry highlighted that Bucharest is the first destination on Andrii Sybiha's regional tour.
Background: On 5 September, the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) voted to appoint Sybiha as foreign minister, replacing Dmytro Kuleba. Before that, he had served as the first deputy foreign minister since April 2024 and, prior to that, deputy head of the President's Office.
