In his speech aimed at finding answers to the question of how to effectively regulate artificial intelligence, the Microsoft leader called for action to ensure that people can distinguish between when a photo or video is real and when it was created by artificial intelligence, possibly with suspicious intentions.
"We will have to deal with the problems that arise from deep fakes. We have to focus, among other things, on what we are most concerned about in terms of foreign cyber operations, activities already being conducted by the governments of Russia, China, Iran," Smith said.
He also noted that deep fakes are the biggest problem in the field of artificial intelligence technologies.
In addition, Brad Smith called for the licensing of the most critical forms of artificial intelligence with conditions to guarantee physical, cyber, and national security.
Earlier, the CEO of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, proposed to regulate artificial intelligence in the US Congress. He testified before a Senate committee, considering the opportunities and challenges of the latest technologies.
