The Ukrainian leader said the two sides coordinated positions during the conversation ahead of upcoming meetings and talks.

"It is important for cooperation in Europe to remain strong, and there are now new prospects for working together. We also discussed the state of diplomatic efforts with the United States and among Europeans," Zelenskyy said.

According to the president, the combined effect of sanctions on Russia and other forms of pressure is producing the necessary results.

Context

Stubb has previously said that US foreign policy has changed and become more economy-focused. He believes Europe will eventually have to resume dialogue with the Russian leadership, and that the path forward depends largely on whether US policy on Russia and Ukraine aligns with European interests.
