US government agencies suffered from a global cyberattack
US government agencies have suffered from a global hacker attack.
This was stated by the US Agency for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security (CISA), Reuters.
According to them, a group of hackers attacked the MOVEit transmission software used by some government agencies. However, CISA refused to say which agencies were affected.
"We are working urgently to understand the impact and ensure timely recovery," CISA said.
They also added that they do not expect significant consequences from the hack. And the Cl0p online ransomware group, which claimed responsibility for the MOVEit hack, said it would not use any data obtained from government agencies.
Cyberattacks in the US
At the end of May this year, the Chinese state-sponsored hacker group Volt Typhoon attacked critical infrastructure in Guam. There are major US military installations there, including the "Andersen" naval base, which is key to responding to any conflict in the Asia-Pacific region.
And in mid-May, it was reported that unknown hackers had hacked into the TRANServe transit benefits processing system, leading to the leakage of personal information of 237 thousand current and former federal government employees.
