The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine knew about the plans of Russian invaders to attack Avdiivka in Donetsk region.

This was reported on Radio Liberty said the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kovalev. He said that the situation is not a surprise for the military, so there is no need to panic.

"Russian occupants have intensified their offensive since yesterday in the area of Avdiivka... There is no need to panic, this situation is not a surprise for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Our units and our commanders were ready for this", he emphasized.

Kovalev said that the Russian invaders are trying to conduct attacks in different parts of the front. In addition to Avdiivka, the occupants also planned to attack in the Kup'yansky direction.

"Russian occupants are looking for weaknesses in our defense. A few months ago, the Russian occupiers tried to concentrate their efforts and actively attack our units, for example, in the Kup'yansky direction," Kovalev said.
