Day 2 of ceasefire: Russian forces launched 60 attacks on Ukrainian positions

Russian forces continued artillery attacks on border areas. In Sumy Oblast on 10 May, the settlements of Korenok, Novovasylivka, Rohozine, Yastrubshchyna, Budky, Atynske, Neskuchne, Bachivsk, Luzhky, Volfyne and Iskryskivshchyna came under fire.
Situation along the key fronts
On the North Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk fronts, one of the nine combat clashes recorded on 10 May is still ongoing. Russian forces also carried out 41 strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, ten of them with multiple-launch rocket systems.
On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, Russian forces stormed Ukrainian positions eight times near Zelene, Starytsia, Petro-Ivanivka, Myrove, Symynivka and Krasne Pershe. One clash is still ongoing.
On the Lyman front, Russian forces launched five assaults near Zarichne, Lyman, Stavky and Ozerne.
On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attempts to advance near Rai-Oleksandrivka and Riznykivka.
On the Kostiantynivka front, Russian forces carried out five attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka and Ivanopillia. One clash is still ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk front, Russian forces have made 24 attempts to push Ukrainian units from their positions near Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka and Novopidhordne, and towards Hannivka, Myrne, Serhiivka and Novooleksandrivka. One clash is still ongoing.
On the Oleksandrivka front, Ukrainian defenders stopped a Russian attack near Oleksandrohrad.
On the Huliaipole front, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine Russian attacks near Rybne, Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka and Huliaipilske.
Context: the three-day ceasefire
- US President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire in Russia's war against Ukraine on 8 May.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the truce for 9-11 May and announced a "1000 for 1000" prisoner exchange.
- By separate decree, Zelenskyy also "allowed" Russia to hold its 9 May Victory Day parade during the ceasefire.
- Moscow agreed to support Trump's initiative for the truce from 9 to 11 May and the prisoner exchange.
- According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defence forces recorded 147 combat clashes on 9 May alone.
