Rheinmetall plans to produce tanks, air defense systems and shells in Ukraine
German concern makes important announcement on production of shells and military equipment in Ukraine
Germany's largest defense company, Rheinmetall, whose representatives announced in February that they were ready to produce tanks, air defense systems and shells in Ukraine, has confirmed this intention.
According to Bild, this was stated by the head of the concern, Armin Papperger.
In the coming weeks, the German concern will try to conclude relevant agreements with Kyiv.
It is planned to set up joint ventures with Ukrainian companies to produce self-propelled systems, air defense systems and ammunition.
"In this way, we will give Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself in the medium and long term," Papperger emphasized.
According to Armin Papperger, the concern's CEO, plans to produce weapons directly in Ukraine are taking shape. The company intends to sign cooperation and joint venture agreements with Ukrainian companies in the coming weeks, Papperger said on Tuesday in Düsseldorf during an online shareholder meeting.
