Podolyak on Lukashenko's nuclear statements: Russia is deliberately undermining global security
Statements by self-styled President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about the "easy" possibility of obtaining nuclear weapons undermine the basic principles of global security.
This view was expressed by Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, on Twitter.
"Lukashenko's 'nuclear' statements (the de facto ruler of Belarus and a VIP agitator for the war) clearly demonstrate that Russia is deliberately 'undermining' the concept of global nuclear deterrence and 'hiding' the key international treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons," Podoliak emphasized.
He pointed out that such a strategy of Russia and Belarus fundamentally undermines the principles of global security.
"The only solution that can be found is a strict position of the nuclear powers; relevant UN/IAEA resolutions; large-scale sanctions against Rosatom; systemic financial sanctions against Belarus and additionally against Russia," said the advisor to the head of the Presidential Office.
Lukashenko's statements
At the end of March, Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin first started talking about the possibility of transferring nuclear weapons to Belarus. At the time, Putin emphasized that, according to his own words, Lukashenka himself had asked him to deploy nuclear weapons.
The world's response to this incident was extremely negative. Even China opposed the transfer of nuclear weapons to Belarus.
But a few days ago, the defense ministers of Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. In particular, the Kremlin will give Minsk the Iskander-M missile system, which can use nuclear-capable missiles.
And today, Lukashenko said that anyone who disagrees with this decision can join their alliance with Russia and also get access to nuclear weapons.
