Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ukraine detained for bribery of $3 Million dollars

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has exposed Supreme Court Chief Justice Vsevolod Kniazev for taking a bribe of about $3 million (about 110 million hryvnias at the current exchange rate - ed.). The judge was detained, NABU confirmed.

The bureau is expected to provide more detailed information on this case tomorrow, May 16.

According to a source in the NABU, Knyazev received money from people who were in favor of a court decision in favor of oligarch Konstantin Zhevago. As a reminder, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court considered the case regarding the ownership of 40.19% of shares in Ferrexpo's Poltava Mining and Processing Plant (PGOK). In its decision, the body retained these shares for Zhevago's related companies, canceling the invalidation of the sale and purchase agreements concluded 20 years ago.

UPD: According to sources, against the backdrop of Knyazev's detention, searches are being conducted on 18 other judges of the Supreme Court of Ukraine who heard the case. The High Council of Justice should suspend them. At the same time, Knyazev has not had a deputy for about a year and a half, so his detention would mean "decapitation" of the body.
