Kremlin claims to be saving cities and lives in Ukraine

The Kremlin continues to deny that it is waging war against Ukraine and claims that it is trying to save Ukrainian cities and lives by conducting a "special operation."

This was stated by the Russian president's spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"And you will say why the Russians are so slow to act? Because the Russians are not at war. We are not waging war. Waging a war is a completely different matter, it is the complete destruction of infrastructure, the complete destruction of cities. We are not doing that," the Kremlin spokesman said in an interview with ATV (Republika Srpska), according to the Russian news agency TASS.

"We are trying to preserve infrastructure and we are trying to preserve human lives," Peskov added.

*Russia has caused $700 billion worth of damage to Ukraine. This includes damage or destruction of almost 75,000 residential buildings, more than 2,500 educational institutions, 500 medical facilities, 400 cultural and 120 religious buildings, and more than 100 energy infrastructure facilities.
