Counteroffensive will give Ukraine the victory it needs to join NATO - Ukraine's Foreign Ministry

Ukraine has enough weapons to launch a counteroffensive. This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Sky News reports.

He said that a counteroffensive would give Ukraine the victory it needs to join NATO. The minister noted that Ukraine's membership in the military bloc “probably” will be possible only after the end of active hostilities.

When asked if the counter-offensive has already begun, Kuleba evaded the question and said that the most important thing is not when it started, but that it ends with Ukraine's victory.

— NATO membership cannot stop this war, but NATO membership will stop further wars. That's why the best way to ensure security in the region is to come to the moment when Ukraine becomes a NATO member," Kuleba said.

He added that NATO membership is the next big goal on Ukraine's agenda after some allies agreed to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

"We clearly understand who we need to work with to make positive decisions in Vilnius. We clearly understand what arguments we need to use. Therefore, our work will continue to be very active," Kuleba said. - "In June and until the beginning of July, before the summit, the main focus of my work... will be weapons and the Vilnius summit. Decisions that should bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance, strengthen the formats of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and lead to the provision of certain security guarantees to Ukraine that will be in effect from now until the moment of membership. But the key is... this is a step towards membership".

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on June 5 at a joint press conference following talks with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
