Hungarian Foreign Minister: Ukraine is becoming increasingly hostile to us

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto expresses concern that Ukraine is "showing hostility and creating threats" to his country, emphasizing that until Kyiv changes its attitude, Hungary will refuse to provide assistance to a country that is experiencing Russian aggression.

The head of the diplomatic department explained that Hungary will not be able to participate in decisions related to the European Peace Plan and sanctions until Ukrainians remove the Hungarian OTP Bank from the list of international sponsors of the war.

During his working visit to Vienna, Szijjártó noted that Ukraine's attitude toward Hungary is becoming increasingly hostile, and because of this, the government "cannot support either the 11th package of sanctions or the new €500 million grant from the European Peace Plan."

"While we are expected to compensate for economic losses, Ukraine is increasingly hostile to Hungary," he said.

Szijjártó clarified his claims, calling the suspension of Hungarian schools in Zakarpattia on September 1, as well as the inclusion of OTP in the Ukrainian list, according to which the Hungarian bank finances Russia's war against Ukraine, hostile steps.

It is worth recalling that the list of war sponsors, among others, included Chinese Xiaomi and Great Wall, Hungarian OTP Bank, Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International, French Auchan and other companies.

However, it is important to note that on April 26, the UN voted on a resolution condemning Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. Among those who supported the document were China, Armenia, Brazil, and Hungary.

Zoltan Kovacs, a representative of the Hungarian government, stated in his article that the European Union and NATO have actually become participants in the war in Ukraine through the supply of weapons. Hungary supported the so-called "peace plan" of China. May 15 Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto plans to hold talks on the "peace plan."

May 15 Hungary blocks the disbursement of the eighth package of military aid from the European Peace Fund (EPF) for weapons intended for the Ukrainian army.
