Armenia will stop cooperating with Russia in case of risk of sanctions
Armenia cannot be sanctioned because of its cooperation with Russia, so this risk will be a "red line" for Yerevan. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with Respekt on May 14.
"Where possible, we are happy to meet Russian demand. Sanctions are our 'red line'. And we say this very clearly to Russia: We do not want to harm you, but we cannot afford to be sanctioned ourselves. There is no secret here," he said.
According to Pashinyan, Armenia closely cooperates in the economic sphere with Russia and is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union. In particular, "new logistics routes" have been created, including through Armenia.
"But we are trying to be as transparent as possible about the sanctioned goods, cooperating with the EU, the US and even with Russia itself," the Armenian prime minister added.
