Ukraine orders 300 reconnaissance drones from German company

Ukraine and the U.S. Marine Corps Special Forces have placed a large order for reconnaissance drones from the German corporation Quantum Systems.

This became known from the official announcement of the Munich-based company, which was covered in Handelsblatt.

The US Special Forces is already planning to use Quantum Systems drones in future reconnaissance operations. It is known that the Pentagon has signed a $20 million deal to purchase 100 Vector drones, as recently reported by the US Department of Defense.

According to Florian Seibel, CEO of Quantum Systems, the drones can be used by special forces for night reconnaissance missions directly from rubber boats. After testing these drones over the past few months, Seibel hopes to find even more buyers within the US military and beyond.

The report also states that Ukraine has ordered 300 reconnaissance drones from Quantum Systems. However, Handelsblatt does not specify whether this is a Vector model. There is also no information on when these drones might be manufactured and delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As for the Vector's characteristics, it includes the ability to launch in two minutes, a wingspan of 2.8 meters, and the ability to launch by hand. The drone is equipped with electro-optical and infrared sensors to detect enemy targets. Its robust design reduces the impact of atmospheric conditions. The Vector can fly at speeds up to 72 km/h and has a flight time of up to 120 minutes. It can also broadcast real-time video to ground stations.
