Ukrainian aircraft crossed into Russia to attack Russian military infrastructure early in full-scale war
Ukrainian aircraft undertook combat missions that targeted Russian military facilities in Russia soon after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Source: Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Facebook
Quote from Ihnat: "[...] during the first weeks of the full-scale [invasion], [Ukrainian] pilots carried out more than one successful mission near Bryansk where they undermined the pace of the enemy’s offensive on their own territory and destroyed their logistics. The Air Force carried out bold and courageous operations on multiple fronts."
Details: Ihnat also said that early in the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian pilots had no red lines and would break through the Russian air defence and kill hundreds of Russian soldiers and destroy dozens of armoured vehicles headed towards Kyiv.
Ihnat said that sadly, many of the Ukrainian pilots were killed in these operations, but they made an incredible contribution to Ukraine’s victory [in the battle for Kyiv].
Ukrainian pilots are currently focused on mastering and deploying Western-supplied weapons, with important strategic missions ahead of them.
