Spain to hand over 20 armored personnel carriers, a field hospital and 4 repaired Leopard 2s to Ukraine
Ukraine will receive additional military assistance from Spain, including 20 armored personnel carriers and a field hospital, as well as four Leopard 2A4 tanks that were under repair.
This is reported by the Spanish Ministry of Defense.
The armored vehicle fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be replenished with twenty armored personnel carriers from Spain, which will soon go to Poland - they are expected there on June 19, says the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense Margarita Robles. This shipment will complement the 40 armored personnel carriers already received by Ukraine.
The Spanish defense ministry also announced the transfer of four Leopard 2A4 tanks that were undergoing repairs.
The military aid also includes the transfer of a Role 2 plus field hospital. Prior to its delivery to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will undergo relevant training in Spain.
This mobile hospital can serve a military brigade, providing emergency surgery and basic stabilization, laboratory and pharmaceutical services in 12 containers.
Ukraine's allies have created a tank coalition to arm the Ukrainian military with more modern equipment. The authorities of a number of European countries and Canada have decided to provide Ukraine with German Leopard 2 tanks, some of which are already in Ukraine.
It was recently announced that Ukraine will receive 14 more Leopard 2 battle tanks. Denmark and the Netherlands sponsored the purchase of these tanks, which will be delivered by the German company Rheinmetall.
