Jordan calls on the US to deploy Patriot air defense systems on its territory

Jordan has called on the United States to deploy Patriot air defense systems to strengthen the defense of its borders amid escalating regional tensions.

This is reported by Reuters.

"We have asked the American side to help strengthen our defense system with Patriot air defense systems," said Brigadier General Mustafa Hiyari, a spokesman for the Jordanian army.

The United States has previously deployed Patriot systems in the country since 2013 following the uprising in neighboring Syria.

Hiyari also denied reports on social media that the Pentagon used its bases to transport some equipment and weapons from its warehouses to Israel to bolster its defenses after the Hamas invasion.

In recent weeks, the United States has sent a significant number of naval forces to the Middle East, including two aircraft carriers and support ships, and increased the number of troops in the region by thousands.

Expansion of Israel's ground operation

On October 7, Hamas terrorists unexpectedly attacked Israel. The militants killed and kidnapped soldiers and civilians. After that, Israel began to regularly shell militant bases in the Gaza Strip.

On October 27, Israel began to intensify its attack on Gaza. The Israeli Defense Forces also announced the expansion of the ground operation.

At the same time, the IDF reported that on the night of October 30, additional troops were sent to the Gaza Strip to continue the operation.
