Meta will introduce Facebook and Instagram subscriptions in Europe starting in November

Meta will introduce subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram users in Europe starting in November. In particular, after the European courts began to tightly control the way companies handle data on social networks.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

Starting in November, users will be able to subscribe to access to social networks for 9.99 euros per month on the Internet or for 12.99 euros per month through Apple and Android mobile operating systems.

Subscription services will be offered to all residents of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The company reports that users in the EU will not be shown ads through the subscription.

The subscription is a response to the tightening of rules for the collection and use of user data in Europe. Meta, announcing the innovation, refers to the decision of the EU Court of Justice, which was made against the company in July.

Then the court ruled that companies should consider providing an alternative service for customers who do not want their data collected and sold to advertisers "if necessary for an appropriate fee".

Meta will continue to provide services with advertising support on social networks at no additional cost. While the subscription fee will initially apply to all user accounts, starting in March, Meta will charge an additional €6 per month on the web and €8 per month on mobile for each additional account.
